Bericht van Maia met foto's: …..sweet, because of the non-expected suc- cesses: Tara won the Puppy Female Class on Friday and become Best Fe- male Puppy at the World Dog Show in Bratislava! The male classwinner puppy, Boxing Helena’s Imenitni won the “Best Puppy in Breed” competition. Our brindle Dana was placed for 3rd by spe- cialist judge Patsy Gilmour (GB). It means that both of our entered pups were placed! Vega and Willow also did well: both excellents. We are proud of them because they are full american Whippets and they are blacks, so excellent is something to hope for but not really expected under an english judge….. City ended up with “very good” under Gerard Jipping, handled by Becky Gardner. I felt honoured having the chance to show PetrezselyemProjekt Breeders Group and Lightfall’s Will-O-Wisp’s Progeny Group together with Sue Nichols and Becky Gardner. They, and Becky’s daughter Brianna were our guests for the weekend. After the busy show day, we had a lovely Saturday: castle museum, reneissanse restaurant and harvest festival were in the program. It was fun! I am very happy on Sue, Becky and Brianna’s visit. They came into our home, we spent the weekend together. I am also very happy about having the chance to show with them together at the WDS 2009…. I mean showing together our dogs; results of their bree- ding program too. I’m also very-very happy on Punta’s success: Ch Panther’s Ghost z Uplnku, father of our 2009 litter went World Winner Male….. ……but this weekend tastes bitter too, because Willow flew back home. My heart is nearly breaking. We all knew that the time would come, but nobody thought it would arrive so fast. 2 years.. I just can’t express how much we love this girl, and how thankful we are… to her, and to her owners too; for the chance to found our small kennel on Willow’s bloodline. We are missing her deeply right now….but we know that she returned back home and her “real” owner came to fly over with her. Dear Willow, be happy…. at least as happy as we are about You!

Locar- Datani Total Eclipse ROM) (9/11/1993 - 1/16/2006) Breeder/Owner: Carol Curry, Locar Whippets "Ferrari or "FIFI" finished his title when he was 14 months old and earned his National Select at 15 months, being the first black to earn a Select title. After moving east he earned both his AKC and his ASFA Field Championships in almost straight trials. .. both titles in about 6 months time. Among his accomplishments was winning the Presidents Cup in Va. from the open division.. all the way to BIF.. a very prestigious win." If you didn't get the chance to meet this wonderful dog, then you missed out on meeting one of the Grandest dogs of our time. What a high class Gentleman !! And though he wasn't used as a stud dog but a handful of times, his made his mark and we now can see strength and quality through his grandchildren. I and other breeders are so thankful for the wonderful qualities he has given us and our breeding programs... Ferrari was Best In Field......... at the Presidents Cup in Va, where he went BIF from open over 40 FCHs and most of the top ten ASFA dogs were at that trial. It was a big trial in those days. Bijdrage met foto van Monique: Whippets that matter: Zuber Zuber was één van de eerste vijf whippets die werden ingeschreven in het in 1891 nieuw geopende whippet stamboek van de Engelse Kennel Club. Hij was bruin/wit gekleurd en is op 12 april 1889 geboren uit de beroemde reu White Eye en de teef Herndell. Zuber’s vader White Eye was pikzwart met één wit oog en was onverslaanbaar bij het whippet racen (200 yards op de rechte baan).
Zuber werd de eerste whippet show kampioen aller tijden, wat officieel is bevestigd in 1898, toen hij al negen jaar oud was. Hij “matters”, omdat hij in de stamboom van alle whippets van vandaag zit. Kijk maar eens op The Whippet Archives (zie links), en voer de stamboom van jouw whippet in. Als je de voorouders van jouw whippet naloopt, door steeds verderop op een naam in de stamboom te klikken (stel het scherm in op 9 generaties, dan gaat het sneller), dan zul je geheid bij Zuber belanden, pakweg 22 generaties verderop.
